Fitness

Workout is my middle name! I've pretty much tried all types of exercise out there. And if you think I haven't then I'd like a challenge!

I workout more or less everyday and when I don't I end up being miserable all day, or find that 24hrs in a day is way too long. Agree with me?
Exercise I do includes BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyBalance, BodyStep, RPM all of which are LesMill classes with amazing instructors. People have a the idea that aerobics classes aren't intense but you get out of it what you put in it and these are very well designed. It also means my not-so-fitness-fanatic-friends can be dragged along because it's not as daunting as the weights room of the gym or all the buttons on the cardio machines.

After a long workout I do like to 'swim it off' I feel that this stretches out my muscles and relaxes my mind. I don't race but I consider myself a strong and moderate-fast paced swimmer and recently get irritated by swimming traffic when slow people are in front of me. Do you?

I have my own routine in the gym and design home workouts too as I am a qualifed fitness instructor and my favourite being HIIT or Tabata which are both types of interval training. Tabata is 20 seconds of intense exercise and 10 seconds rest (well getting ready for next exercise) - I chose a combo of 4 exercises sometimes with/without weights to work my body all over. Perform exercise A, B, C and D, then repeat 8 times and there you have it a quick 16 minute workout! Be creative with it.

I run in the morning or late in the evening because I like the coolness and usually 8-10km and my longest race has been a half marathon- in San Francisco might I add :) I run on my own without music and like to think about anything and everything.

After proofreading this it seems that I definitely do lots, but I do rest too, and remember resting is part of exercise. It helps you perform to your max in the next session and to keep perfect form in each exercise and of course reduce injury, which I have never had.

Shanie says: 'New to exercise? Start small and aim big!'
She also says: 'You spend 23 hours a day eating, sleeping, working, watching TV. So why cant't you spend an 1hr being active?'
